You can help - Become a mentor today!

A mentor is a role model and a friend

Dear Brother:

Every school day one of your little brothers is suspended or expelled from the school system. The dropout rates for a black boy is higher than any other groups of students in our school systems but more so in Providence. The graduation rates for black boys lower than any other group. Instead of going to college or engaging in positive post secondary activities, your little brother find sanctuary in the streets. As you may know, the streets are no heaven for little black boys. You have lost too many of your little brothers to the streets. You cannot afford to loose another one.

I know that you are an extremely busy man. You are working, taking care of your own family, sitting on boards and it would seem you have no time left for your little brother. But, if you don’t who does? If you are too busy for your little brother who do you expect to take the time to even talk to him?

I encourage you to become involved in your little brother’s life. Become a Mentor. He needs you to teach him how to be a man. He needs you to teach him how to act, how to respect himself, his elders and even those who treat him with disrespect. He needs you to teach him how to succeed.

Your little brother is depending on you. It really does not take a lot of money or a lot time to become a mentor. It takes a commitment. Please call 401-273-2372 to commit to mentor a black boy.
